SINCE 1949
Red Rock Christian Church has been ministering to Boise’s Central Bench since 1949. We celebrate being a multi-generational church, a place for all ages, from our newest baby to our oldest senior as one community of faith. We are blessed with diverse backgrounds, families, jobs, economic circumstances and life goals, and with a modern mission of serving Christ by serving others and following his example in our lives.
Red Rock Christian Church is a congregation of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), the oldest denomination founded on American soil, and one of 43 congregations in the Region of Oregon and SW Idaho.

THE PIE FACTORY
Second Christian Church, came to be in early April 1949, with Reverend Cecil Warner called to be the first minister. The first meeting of the new church was held July 10, 1949 in a converted bakery building on Cassia Street with twenty-three people attending Bible School. Members raised funds and purchased land for a new building at 1124 S. Roosevelt Street. Members transported red rock from the Owyhee Mountains to serve as the church’s exterior. The new building was dedicated on December 10, 1950 with 86 members on the church roll. After a while, the church became known as "Red Rock Christian Church" because people would tell friends they “went to that red rock church”.
FROM THE ASHES
In 1976, the church building caught fire and was lost. But the spirit of the congregation continued and a new building was built and dedicated in 1979. In the early 1980's, Reverend Gary Smith worked with several members of the board to buy the adjoining property to the church. On this property a softball field was developed. The Red Rock Steelers played for many summers there against other teams in the valley. The church building has grown in size over the years to better serve the needs of a growing church family. Throughout the decades, Red Rock has been rich in youth, camp, and outreach ministries. In 2008, Red Rock started monthly Community Suppers to offer meals to our neighbors. Red Rock has had nine full time ministers, one associate minister, and one education minister.
We believe
that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God, but have no other creed and require no other confession.
that God loves us just as we are and too much to let us stay just as we are. A new life in Christ is a life-long adventure in which we are enriched and sustained by our community of faith.
that celebration of the Lord’s Supper is central to our worship. We celebrate the Lord’s Supper weekly. All believers are welcome to receive communion, regardless of their faith background.
in the ministry of all people. Women, men, and youth are involved in all areas of the church’s life and work.
in religious freedom and responsibility. We trust God’s Spirit and your own God-given intellect, so we do not tell you what to believe nor do we expect you to check your mind at the door. Doubts and questions are welcomed as together we address the profound mysteries of life and faith.
